This (along with To Gaze Upon) was one of the first tracks I made for this album. It is simple in structure, allowing the complexity of the base sample to shine through the many layers of effects and automation put on it. The base sample is a slowed down version of the first few minutes of Six Marimbas by Steve Reich. The beginning and ending segments involved a cool series of notes that have different distances between them, causing all the notes to separate over time into different patterns. I thought this concept was very interesting and it was pretty much the second part of this album I created. The first part was the piano melody from Regret. I put this sequence of notes over a sample of Aurora by Lockyn, which was distorted to add a dark and quiet background ambience. The original version of this song was very loud, especially in the lower ranges. I'd have trouble listening to it with headphones. I spent a few hours mulling over several version of this track, trying to find the perfect mix that doesn't kill eardrums. This final version came about when I decided to combine all of these different versions into one. I'm now very happy with how this turned out.
The a friend helped my come up with the title. I showed the track to him and he gave 2 possible titles: Vast Ecosystem and Southern Breeze. I decided to put the 2 together!
