It starts to dawn on you that the significance of this event is a lot bigger than you.
This track is probably the one I am the most proud of. I think it goes to show how much I have improved in my music over the past 2+ years. Obviously, I have more progress to make but I still find music like this to satisfy what I want from a song.
I first started this song, knowing it would be the intro for the album. I decided to use the Nasa audio of the moon landing at the start to portray the setting of a spacecraft landing on a distant planet. Fun fact: The "contact light" you hear at the end of the beginning segment were the first words spoken by the Apollo 11 astronauts when they landed on the moon! I cut up a lot of the radio talk from the Nasa audio and added a lot of delay for every part after the opening. The bongos are taken from the end of Booth by 808 State. Everyone I've shown this track to have said that it reminds them of The Orb. Of course this song is heavily inspired by their work but also samples Blue Room for the background ambience.
I spent my time creating this track. It was originally only 4 and a half minutes and I slowly added new parts as development on this album continued. As I mentioned before, I am very proud of how it turned out and I think it makes an excellent beginning to this amazing album.
Unlike my other songs, I came up with the name for this and the final track before I even started work on either of them. I thought it was an interesting idea to have this album start with people's arrival to the planet and then ending with then leaving.
